introducing the new round trip dress & jacket sewing pattern (simplicity 1419)

We’re happy to introduce our newest Lisette pattern for Simplicity.

The Round Trip Dress & Jacket features a cute, unlined dress with a coordinating jacket for spring and summer.

The dress comes in two views: sleeveless with a Peter Pan collar or short sleeved with no collar. Of course you can mix and match these elements to create the style that’s right for you. The dress is a slightly fitted style with a softly pleated skirt, so it’s flattering for all body types. And because it’s not a fully-fitted style, it’s relatively easy to sew and is appropriate for newer sewists.

The pattern also includes an adorable bolero jacket for covering your shoulders as warm days turn into cooler evenings. The jacket is a cute semi-boxy style with a flattering, feminine shape and a tuxedo collar. You can style the jacket so that it can be worn for either casual or dressy events.

Simplicity 1419 Jacket

The pattern (Simplicity 1419) is available now wherever Simplicity patterns are sold in the northern hemisphere (it should be available in Australia with the next season release) and on the Oliver + S website.

I love this! Guess I will be stopping by the fabric store today after all.

Love the pockets! Do you have photos of the jacket sewn up? It’s so hard to tell what it’s like from the drawings. My sister and I have a piece of silk our grandmother gave us and we want to make a jacket, something not too fitted so we could share (being very slightly different sizes)…

The dress is adorable. Pleats are flattering and I *love* pockets. But the jacket is the best part. Wouldn’t that be fantastic in linen?

Its lovely, I have ordered mine!

I think the whole outfit would be lovely in linen.

Hi Liesl,

This pattern is lovely! I’d like to make it in a lightweight material for autumn/winter and line it…do you think that would be easy enough to do?

That’s exactly what I’m doing. It’s not hard to line it at all. Now if I can just find time to finish it I’ll take some photos to show you.

Why can’t I get this pattern in the uk.
Await your comments.

Hazel, Simplicity may have different seasons and release dates for the patterns in different countries. I know that Australia receives the patterns later than the U.S. and that may apply to the UK as well. But the pattern is available on our site and we ship to the U.K., so you can still get it!

I bought this pattern 3 weeks ago and have finally had the chance to sit down and work with it. It’s my first pattern and so far I’m 95% done with it!! It’s so easy and the directions are great 🙂

But I do have a question…how easy do you think it would be to take it in or out if need be??
